Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floors are so warm and rich. You just love the character in the grain. You paid extra for that durable oil-based varnish that makes them so shiny and smooth.
To keep them looking this fabulous forever, steam is just the answer and yes, the truth is they can and should be steamed.
Oak, Cherry, Alder, Bamboo, Pine…any type of wood, even laminates like Pergo can be steam cleaned safely and effectively.
Follow this technique with 3 simple hardwood floor steaming rules and enjoy your beautiful shiny wood floor investment.
The “technique” is to
1. double wrap your steamer’s floor brush with a terry towel first and a microfiber cloth on the outside
2. turn the steam to the lowest setting
3. keep moving…never leaving it steaming in one spot. You’ll get your hardwood floors clean, dry, shined and polished in one step! It’s 90% dryer than a wet mop. Your varnish will look great and you’ll have no build up of chemicals that dull the shine.
